Small Business Saturday: Support Scotch Plains, Fanwood Shops

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — Small businesses are the lifeline to any community. Many in Scotch Plains and Fanwood are still doing their best to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, making Small Business Saturday in 2021 more vital than ever.

This year, the all-local shopping event falls on Nov. 27 including in Scotch Plains and Fanwood.

Both Scotch Plains and Fanwood are hosting a celebration on Saturday to encourage residents to come out and support local businesses.

Fanwood

In Downtown Fanwood at the South Avenue Plaza from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a welcome table that will include a free Shop Small Goody Bag, Raffle for a $100 gift card, Balloon artist for kids and Coffee and doughnuts. The event is sponsored by the Borough of Fanwood, The Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce, and The Lightbridge Academy.

Here is a list of some of the Small Business Saturday participants that have signed up so far:

• Fanwood Larder - A portion of sales 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. benefit SPF Raiders Baseball Coopertown Fundraiser. Sample their amazing sandwiches.
• Sheelen's Crossing - If the Sheelen's coupon in your Goody Bag has the star, you'll win a $100 gift card. Other coupons good for a free house wine or domestic beer with purchase of an entrée, Saturday, Nov. 27, only.
• J.Ciro Watches - 15% discount on all online purchases through Cyber Monday. Type the code LOCAL2021 at checkout on the J. Ciro website.
• Enchantments - 20% off selected Holiday Tableware, Winter Accessories and Handmade Jewelry. Pickup coupons at Welcome Table.

Scotch Plains

In Scotch Plains, the Township in partnership with the Scotch Plains Business & Professional Association is hosting a Small Business Saturday event along with a "Cops, Cocoa, and Community" event sponsored by the community policing unit of the Scotch Plains Police Department.

Resident can stop by the Alan Augustine Village Green from noon to 3 p.m. to pick up a "Shop Small" tote bag with coupons for businesses and free hot chocolate. Shop at any Scotch Plains business to earn raffle tickets. Prizes include five $100 gift cards for use at any Scotch Plains business. Shoppers will earn one raffle ticket for every local purchase. Anyone who shops in Scotch Plains on Nov. 27 is eligible.

Any type of small business counts for this promotion, including restaurants, professional services, health and wellness services, spas, etc. All Township businesses are included, so explore the great offerings on Park Avenue, East 2nd Street, Route 22, Mountain Avenue, Westfield Avenue, and North and South avenues.

Shoppers can bring a receipt as proof of purchase to the welcome table at the Alan Augustine Village Green on Nov. 27 to enter the raffle. Winners will be announced at 3 p.m. and do not need to be present.
