Truck With Cooking Oil Caught On Fire In Fanwood: Police

FANWOOD, NJ — A small white box truck containing cooking oil was fully engulfed in flames on South Avenue in Fanwood earlier Friday afternoon.

Lieutenant Dan Kranz from Fanwood Police Department said the cause of the fire is still undetermined. Fanwood and Scotch Plains Fire Department arrived at the scene quickly and put out the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Kranz said the road is still closed on South Avenue from First Street until Lauren Place and that people should avoid the area.

An electrical wire caught on fire, and PSE&G is going to assess the situation. Kranz said once PSE&G verifies that the electrical wire is not compromised, the police will open the road back up.
