UPDATE: Why Did Dozens Of Horses Break Free From Union County Stable?

It's reported that the horses were seen galloping alongside a road before they were captured by police.

A spokesman for Union County said it was coyotes who spooked the 30 horses that broke free from their outdoor paddocks on Monday night.

The spokesman told TAP into Westfield that its believed one of the horses “knocked down a rail on the split rail fence and went through the fence.”

It was just before 9 p.m. when the horses broke free from their home at Watchung Stable.

Police were called and the horses were safety wrangled back into their Mountainside stable within an hour, according to nj.com.
