Clifton Man Chatted With Children Online, Tried To Meet Them For Sex
A jury found a 42-year-old Clifton man guilty of engaging in sexual conversations with children online, and trying to meet them for sex.
CLIFTON, NJ — On Friday, a jury seated in Morris County found a 42-year-old Clifton man guilty of engaging in sexual conversations with children on the Internet — and knowing they were underage children — and then trying to lure those children to public meeting places so he could have sex with them.
The man is Brian Stewart, formerly of Clifton. The multiple sexual offenses occurred in March 2024, said Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll.
The jury returned guilty verdicts last Friday, May 23, following a three-day trial.

It was parents in Boonton who called police in that town in March 2024 to report this was happening, said the Morris County Prosecutor.

- Three counts of second-degree Luring
- Two counts of third-degree child endangerment
- One count of second-degree Attempted Endangering the Welfare of a Child
- Four counts of second degree Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault
He will be sentenced July 25 and will remain in custody until he is sentenced.
