Manhunt Ends For NJ Resident Accused Of Assaulting Cops On Jan. 6

Yetman is wanted by authorities for allegedly assaulting police officers at the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – Gregory Yetman, the Jan. 6 riot suspect, has turned himself in to authorities Friday morning, the FBI said.

Yetman of Helmetta turned himself in to Monroe Police Department. He is currently in police custody.

Yetman was the subject of a manhunt, with the FBI offering a reward of upto $10,000 for information on him.

The FBI Newark SWAT, Jamesburg Police Department, and Middlesex County Prosecutors Office began their manhunt for Yetman on Wednesday morning.

Authorities attempted to serve Yetman a warrant at his home in Helmetta when he fled into a wooded area, officials said.

Yetman is wanted by authorities for allegedly assaulting police officers at the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot.

The FBI also released a wanted poster on Thursday evening.

According to the poster, Yetman is charged with assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officer; obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder’ entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds and act of physical violence in the Capitol Grounds or building.

At the time of the Jan. 6 riot, Yetman was a military police sergeant in the New Jersey Army National Guard, several media reports confirmed.

Law enforcement authorities have set up a command post at the Helmetta Community Center, Mayor Chris Slav said.
