Aug. 16 Free Home Canning Lecture In South Brunswick

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Did you have an especially good harvest from your home garden this year? If you want to get the most out of your fruits and vegetables all year round, join the Master Gardeners of Middlesex County to learn the art of home canning.
This free demonstration is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug.16 at the EARTH Center located in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave., South Brunswick. All participants must pre-register for the demonstration by Friday, Aug. 11. No “walk-ins” are permitted.
Join us to learn the basics of this time-honored method to preserve the season’s fruits and vegetables.

“Home canning is a popular way to preserve and enjoy your homegrown fruits and vegetables,” said Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios. “It also ensures that you can eat healthy year-round.”
Weather permitting the program will include a brief tour of the Master Gardener's extensive vegetable demonstration garden and a discussion of their best gardening practices.
