Here's Who’s Running For School Board In South Brunswick This November

A total of nine candidates are seeking a seat on the South Brunswick Board of Education this November.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Seven candidates are seeking to fill three spots on the South Brunswick Board of Education this November.

Meanwhile, two candidates are running for the one two-year term seat.

Monday afternoon marked the deadline for hopefuls to file petitions for candidacy in New Jersey's school board elections.

Board members Laura Hernandez, and Alisha Khan are all running for re-election to the board. Julie Ferrara is not seeking re-election.

For the two-year-unexpired term seat, which is on the ballot due to the resignation of Lisa Rodgers, two candidates have filed their nominations – Barry Nathanson who is currently serving in the interim and Magesh Kamalakannan.

  • Kunal Athreya
  • Abhay Srivastava (Integrity Honesty Education)
  • Laura Hernandez
  • Alisha Khan (Putting Students First)
  • Maryam Pal
  • Deven M. Patel (Experience Collaboration Progress)
  • Akansha “Ami” Vora (Voice For Vikings)

Two-year unexpired term

  • Barry Nathanson
  • Magesh Kamalakannan (Build Better Schools)

The general election will be held on Nov. 4 this year.
