July 4 Celebration Rescheduled In South Brunswick Due To Rain In Forecast

The Independence Day celebration, initially planned for Tuesday, will now be held on Wednesday.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The South Brunswick Independence Day Celebration has been rescheduled to Wednesday, due to rain in the forecast, officials said Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 pm on Tuesday. The showers and thunderstorm is expected Tuesday night as well.

The Independence Day celebration, initially planned for Tuesday, will now be held on Wednesday from 6 p.m. onwards at Crossroads South Middle School. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m.

Parking is available at Crossroads South School and the South Brunswick Municipal Complex. Attendees can enjoy live music, food vendors, and a family-friendly atmosphere leading up to the spectacular fireworks display.

Attendees can bring chairs or blankets for seating and plan ahead for traffic and parking.

Here's the forecast for the next few days:

  • Tuesday: High near 90. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tuesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11 p.m., then showers likely. Low around 71. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light west in the evening. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.
  • Wednesday: A chance of showers before 8 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. West wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 67.
  • Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 88.
  • Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 65.
