Police Seminar Focuses On Safety For South Brunswick Houses of Worship
Local religious figures had an open dialogue with law enforcement and shared some of their concerns.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – Recently, the South Brunswick Police Department held a conference where representatives from the Department of Homeland Security and leaders from multiple Houses of Worship came together.
The conference, which was held in the police department’s newly renovated, state-of-the-art training room, served as an educational opportunity. During the seminar, law enforcement agents got a chance to have an open dialogue with local religious figures who shared their concerns.
One of the speakers was Det. Ehtasham Chaudhry, an investigator with the NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness. He shared proactive steps that Houses of Worship can take in order to maintain safe environments.

“By engaging with community members on a more personal level, we can build relationships,” Chief Raymond Hayducka. “And that’s always been our goal as a police department.”
Some of the topics discussed included mental health awareness, opportunities for safety assessments, and active shooter training.

The conference concluded with an informal Q&A in which attendees could open a dialogue with each other and law enforcement representatives.
