According to the obituary posted on the Carmen F. Spezzi & Maliszewski Funeral Home website, Cannon loved “all things history” and was also an amateur chef.

He would offer cooking lessons to anyone who needed it and would share his “creations” at staff potlucks and after school events.

Many of Cannon’s former and current students paid their tributes to the teacher, calling him “kind”, “amazing” and “funny.”

A former student offered this touching tribute to Cannon:

"During the 2013-2014 school year, Mr. Cannon was my US History teacher, and his class shaped my future to the fullest extent. I was in his class the morning after I dealt with a head injury, and his classroom was a healing space for me to recover in and discover my passion for history and policy. His humor, kindness and knowledge were inspiring to many. His classrooms were always filled with laughter, allowing many students to move past any prior disinterest in history. It is because of his encouragement that I never gave up on my recovery. And after seven years, I have finally recovered from the impact and am on track for a career in education and health policy inspired by him. Thank you for everything Mr. Cannon and may you rest in peace."

Feder said Cannon has made a “lasting impression on every life that he touched.”

"He will be so missed by everyone and he leaves us with heavy hearts.”
