South Brunswick Reminds Seniors About Property Tax Freeze Program
To qualify, residents must be 65 or older or receiving federal Social Security disability benefits.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - South Brunswick is reminding eligible homeowners about the NJ Property Tax Relief Program, a state initiative that reimburses seniors and disabled residents for property tax increases on their primary homes.
The program, formerly known as the Senior Freeze Program, "freezes" participants' property taxes at their current level, with the state reimbursing any future increases.
To qualify, residents must be 65 or older or receiving federal Social Security disability benefits. They must have lived in New Jersey for at least 10 years and owned and occupied their current home for at least three years. Applicants must also meet state income limits and pay property taxes in full each year before receiving reimbursement.

The reminder follows Mayor Charles Carley's recent letter to residents about the StayNJ and ANCHOR property tax relief programs.
"These state programs together represent one of the largest property tax relief efforts in New Jersey's history," Carley said. "They make it possible for our residents—especially seniors—to continue living in the homes and communities they love."
