South Brunswick Schools To Host Series On Mental Health & Tech
The three-part series aims to foster meaningful discussions about the negative impacts of smartphones and social media.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - There have been several studies that indicate a link between the use of technology and mental health, including anxiety and depression. But at a time when technology has become an integral part of human lives, it's tough to make children and even adults stay away from it.
With this as a focus, the South Brunswick School District is hosting their upcoming Parent Academy. Titled "The Anxious Generation," its has been inspired by the New York Times Best Seller, "The Anxious Generation," by Jonathan Haidt.
The three-part series aims to foster meaningful discussions about the negative impacts of smartphones and social media on children’s mental health. Through an exploration of Haidt’s work, the district will discuss how cultural shifts – from the pressures of social media to our own well-meaning parenting practices — are contributing to unprecedented levels of anxiety and depression in children.
