Significant Consequences: Superintendent Addresses South Brunswick HS Incidents
The superintendent also criticized the spread of unverified stories on social media that unfairly tarnished the school's reputation.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The South Brunswick High School had a rough few weeks, with several fights breaking out at the high school. One incident even led to a school lockdown and charges for a student.
Superintendent Scott Feder addressed these incidents during Thursday’s Board of Education meeting, saying it was “not a good look” for the school district.
Speaking on the incidents, including fights and assaults, Feder emphasized significant consequences for misbehavior, such as suspensions and loss of privileges.

“You can't have violence in a high school. There's no place for it. We're currently working with students who are coming back after long term suspensions, and I will say some of them are very unhappy that they might miss prom, and they might not graduate with the kids. They might not be able to go on any senior trips. But if you can't be trusted in the school, you're not going to be trusted in other events,” Feder said.
The superintendent told the community that the district was taking strict action because they want all students to focus on learning and have fun while being in school, instead of being caught in the middle of a fight.

“We've had assaults. If someone assaults somebody outside of a school after they're 18 years old, that's jail. That's not missing prom or getting suspended from school for a few days, it's jail,” Feder warned. “So, we have to work on this.”
The superintendent also criticized the spread of unverified stories on social media, especially Facebook, which he believed unfairly tarnished the school's reputation.
He urged parents and students to critically evaluate social media posts and to support the school's efforts to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
