Today: The Real Dog Day of August

What's up in South Brunswick on Monday.

Today is the perfect day to celebrate our furry four-legged friends with National Dog Day.

The appropriate time to honor canines during the dog days of August began as a way to both recognize the pets for all they do and to rescue dogs from homelessness and abuse. President George W. Bush sent a letter to the National Dog Day Foundation in support of National Dog Day during his presidency. Tell us what you're doing to celebrate your dog as we check what else is going on around town today.

1. Today's forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of 81 degrees and a 10 percent chance of rain.

2. What are you doing to celebrate your pooch today? You can always head over to the Rocky Top Dog Park, at 4106-414 Route 27.

3. Are you a commuter? Check out Patch's traffic report. Visit whenever you're heading out on the road for live traffic updates any time of the day.

4. Need to fill 'er up before you head out? Check out our map of the cheapest gas prices in and around South Brunswick to help you save a few bucks.
