Bloomingdales Hosts JESPY -- and Friends -- for Beauty and Shopping
Clients attend a Master Class on Thursday; others can shop on Nov. 20
Lucky JESPY clients and other friends of JESPY will attend a Master Class on Thurs., Sept. 22 to enjoy food, skin care and makeup lessons compliments of Bloomingdale’s. Just as lucky, JESPY friends, supporters and those who love to shop can enjoy the second annual JESPY Beauty Breakfast and Private Shopping Event Sunday, November 20th from 9 to 11 a.m., at Bloomingdale's.
Friend of JESPY, Risa Greenstein of Livingston brought the idea for a unique fundraising event to her friend Dalia Brenman, sales associate at Bloomingdale’s. JESPY House, an independent-living program for adults with learning and developmental disabilities, has more than 150 clients who learn the skills to live and work independently. The clients receive counseling and job training, nutrition and health services, and life skills training; the program includes trips, sports, art and music. JESPY clients live in apartments and condominiums and in supervised housing in South Orange.
This is the second year of this highly-successful events. Last year, event funds introduced clients to Glass Roots, purchased video cameras and laptop with other accessories, took residents to the Broadway show, The Lion King, purchased a 3-in-1 game table for The Café, secured a beach rental for week long summer vacations for 30 clients, and plan to subsidize the winter shuttle service for the 2011-12 season.

JESPY staff hopes the 2011 event will help create new programs to benefit JESPY clients throughout the year. Ticket holders to the November shopping event will find Bloomingdale's stocked for holiday shopping, departments staffed for individual service and demonstrations, makeup applications and free gifts to JESPY guests and clients.
Thursday's event is a preview for November and an opportunity for clients to receive one-on-one attention. Bloomingdales’s staff wants each client to feel special, say store representatives, and they want their shopping experiences to be positive and friendly, without fear and intimidation. Thursday's event is crafted to offer grooming and makeup techniques and this year men will also receive the same attention.
