Donate Clothes, Shoes, Toys to Help Bring Clean Water to Haiti

HeartHaiti organization aims to build well so Haitian village can have clean water

When the earthquake hit Haiti in January 2010 many local residents were affected and wanted to help. The group HeartHaiti was born and the HeartHaiti event on Jan. 29 2010 was a huge community effort that raised funds, made care packages and collected clothes.

The goal was to raise $5,000 so that a well could be drilled in a village in Haiti and that the residents in that village would have clean water for years and years to come. HeartHaiti has continued to raise money since then and we are now very close to the goal.

This Friday from 5 p.m. to Saturday at 10 a.m. you can drop of clothes, shoes and toys (even winter clothes). HeartHaiti has partnered with Community Recycling. Community Recycling will come and haul all the clothes and toys and HeartHaiti will get paid per pound.

"We are double dipping since the clothes are being sent to Haiti. We raise money and at the same time all the clothes that can be used in Haiti is being sent there," said Michelle Cadeau, an organizer of the project.

So, take advantage of this opportunity to get rid of the cleaned out clothes, shoes and toys you have in your house. A win-win situation for all and a step closer to the goal of having a well drilled for a village in Haiti.
