More Rain and Flood Watches Ahead
Heavy rain is expected to soak South Orange -- again.
Parts of the state are under flood watches. Again. For residents still drying out from Hurricane Irene and , the forecast of nearly three inches of rain in the next several days is bad news. Friday, alone, is expected to see more than an inch of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
Steven Martino, a Patch blogger, whose forecasts weather here, explains: "By tomorrow morning, the upper level low over the Ohio River Valley is expected to mature and consolidate, which will drive several strong mid and upper level disturbances into the northern Mid Atlantic. These disturbances will lift the deep tropical moisture over the region leading to waves of moderate to very heavy rainfall developing tomorrow morning and continuing on and off through tomorrow evening, Saturday, and Sunday."
Martino expects to see two to four inches of rain through the weekend. "Flash flooding will be a significant threat with this rain storm over the next several days." Much of the northeast remains wet after late August and early September drenchings.
