South Orange Man Injured in Montclair Robbery
A local couple fell victim to two robbers while walking to their car on Forest Street in Montclair, Police say.

A South Orange man was injured in a robbery on Jan. 9 on Forest Street in Montclair. Police stated that an unknown suspect hit the victim over the head, and then fled the scene in the victim’s car with an accomplice.
Montclair Police Lt. David O’Dowd stated that a South Orange couple was approached by two suspects while walking to the car on Forest Street near Glenridge Avenue.
One of the suspects demanded the victim’s wallets and keys, while the second suspect struck the male victim in the back of the head with an unknown object.

“The female victim observed the actors to be holding what she believed to be long knives,” Lt. O’Dowd said. “The suspects took the male victims wallet and fled the scene in a beige sedan.”
Medical personnel at the scene treated the male victim for minor injuries.

Both suspects are described as black males, short, about 5’8, thin build, medium complexion, approximately 18 to 20-years-old. The suspects are said to have been wearing knit hats, one red and one black, dark scarves over their faces, dark coats, and jeans.
