An Inch of Rain So Far; More Expected

Don't put away the shop vacs yet

Updated: By 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, we received an inch of rain, with another inch or more expected tonight. Tomorrow will see another drenching, challenging rivers (and basements!) hard-hit by Irene.

Keep the mop and bucket handy; more rain is in the forecast. Tropical storm Lee, which you can track here, is expected to dump nearly three inches of rain on the area. In addition, Essex County is under a Flash Flood WatchFlood Warning, and a Hazardous Weather Outlook.

Lee is expected to arrive tonight and linger through Wednesday. The storm has already dumped several inches of rain on southern Louisiana, and is predicted to bring as much as eight inches to some areas, as it moves north, according to the National Weather Service
