Evacuation at Dayton Caused by Dust, Smoke From Construction
Students were taken to the back parking lot for approximately 20 minutes while the Springfield Fire Department inspected the cafeteria.

An evacuation that took place at Jonathan Dayton High School shortly before the first lunch period Monday was caused by smoke and dust in the cafeteria resulting from construction work occuring outside the building.
In a message to parents, Dayton Principal Elizabeth Cresci explained that students were evacuated to the back parking lot, as is standard protocol, while the Springfield Fire Department conducted an inspection.
"At no time was anyone in danger, and we returned to the building after approximately 20 minutes," Cresci wrote.
