Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Car Outside Of Kean University In Union

A 28-year-old woman was hit by a car outside of the university and ultimately died from injuries on Monday.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — A pedestrian was hit by a car in front of Kean University and died from injuries on Monday, according to the Union Police Department.

Hanna Syed, a 26-year-old from Jackson Heights, New York, was hit by a white 2013 Ford Explorer driven by 34-year-old Charles Carrier Jr. of Newark. Carrier was driving south on North Avenue when he collided with Syed.

Union Police arrived at the scene at around 5:32 p.m. on Monday.

Syed was rushed to Trinitas Hospital where she ultimately died from her injuries at 6:12 p.m.

Union Police rerouted traffic on North Avenue for about three hours while they conducted an investigation of the crash. The investigation is being conducted by Officer Michael Salerno.
