Union Co. Man Severely Injured In Tractor-Trailer Crash: Police
The 45-year-old man faced serious injuries following a crash on Route 1 involving a tractor-trailer, Linden Police said.
UNION COUNTY, NJ — A Union County man was severely injured after hitting a tractor-trailer on Route 1 early Wednesday morning, according to Linden Police.
The 45-year-old man from Springfield was traveling south in a Volkswagen GTI when he struck the rear of a tractor-trailer as it entered the roadway, police said. The Volkswagen then rolled over onto its side as a result of the crash, and the driver was rescued by members of the Linden Fire Department.
The crash occurred at around 1:30 a.m. near the 500 block of East Edgar Road.

In a statement, Linden Police said the man was taken to Newark University Hospital with serious injuries, and he is currently listed in critical but stable condition. Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
East Edgar Road was closed following the crash, according to police. It was reopened at approximately 6 a.m.
