Brooklyn Woman Arrested for Alleged Use of Counterfeit $100 Bills in Union County: Police

A 20-year-old Brooklyn woman was arrested at a Linden Walmart on Thursday after police say she attempted to use counterfeit currency.

A 20-year-old Brooklyn woman was arrested at a Linden Walmart on Thursday after police say she attempted to make a purchase with counterfeit currency.

It was 6:45 p.m. When Linden Police were called to the Walmart, located on 1601 W. Edgar Rd., by the store’s Loss Prevention personnel who said Malaysia B. Clark allegedly attempted to purchase a $599 Apple Ipad with six counterfeit $100 bills.

The clerk attempted to stall the woman until police arrived, but she began to walk out of the store without the Ipad or money.

“Arriving officers detained her at the exit door, and after speaking to the employees, placed her under arrest,” according to the Linden Police Department. “The woman gave conflicting accounts of how she came into possession of the phony money.”

She was charged with uttering a forged document and is being held on $5,000 bail pending a court date set for Oct. 9. The U.S. Secret Service was notified of the arrest.
