Summit Cop Struck By Car Rendering Aid To Pedestrian Struck By Car
Drivers were asked to avoid the area.

SUMMIT, NJ — An officer was taken to the hospital Monday after being hit by a car while responding to the scene of a man who had been hit by a car, Summit Police said.
At around 9:20 a.m., officers responded to Route 124 East between Fernwood Avenue and Hobart Avenue where they found a 41-year-old subcontractor for a tree removal service had been hit while directing traffic.
The man was taken to the Morristown Medical Center Trauma Center for treatment.

While working the crash site, an officer was hit by another vehicle that was trying to drive through a closed roadway. He was taken to Overbrook Medical Center with injuries to his foot and leg.
Both drivers remained on scene and are cooperating with officials, city spokesperson Jenny Hoff said.
