Downtown Verizon Store Becomes Independent 'Summit Technology Center'
The local phone and technology support store is no longer working with Verizon and is operating as an independent business on Beechwood Rd.

SUMMIT, NJ — The former Verizon Wireless store located in downtown Summit has recently transformed into an independent cell phone store — Summit Technology Center.
Former manager of the Verizon store, Rubal Vekariya, posted on a Summit Facebook group that him and his partners JT and Pradeep Sonu are no longer working with Verizon anymore.
Vekariya wrote that Summit Technology Center is an independent store located at the same located on 9 Beechwood Road.

He said store is still selling phones and will be working with another location to help customers will all their phone and technical needs.
"We are still providing services such as transferring data, technical issues, house calls or selling accessories," Vekariya wrote on Facebook.

Vekariya told Patch that the shift happened two months ago, at the end of March, and that Verizon dropped a number of local stores, claiming "distribution problems."
Vekariya said he is not clear on the exact reasoning for this decision on Verizon's part.
In addition, Vekariya said the store has a brand-new membership program. A basic membership, which costs $29.99 for a minimum of two months, includes three in-store visits of up to 30 minutes each to assist with any technical needs, as well as 10 percent off any accessories excluding Apple brands and free data transfer for up to one device.
The STC Premium Membership costs $79.99 for a minimum of two months. This includes five in-store visits of up to 30 minutes each, one at home/office visit of up to one hour, 20 percent off any accessories including Apple brands, free data transfer for up to two devices and a free screen protector.
Vekariya said the store maintains its same owners.
