Driver Slams Into Tree That Fell On Road In Union County
Mount Vernon Avenue was closed for about an hour.

SUMMIT, NJ — An 82-year-old man crashed into a tree with his SUV on Oct. 31, city spokesperson Megan Trindell said.
At around 3 p.m., the man was driving a 2025 Grey Kia SUV west along Mt. Vernon Avenue when he watched a large tree fall into the middle of the road in front of him. He was unable to stop in time and hit the tree.
Neither the driver nor the passenger was hurt.

The Summit Department of Public Works was able to remove the tree and reopen the road in about an hour after the crash.
