Employee Of Car Dealership Arrested For Stealing 3 Vehicles In Union County

Henrri Bonilla, 30, of Newark, used his access to key fobs to steal the three vehicles, totaling more than $212,000 in value, said police.

SUMMIT, NJ — An employee of Smythe Volvo was charged after police say he stole three vehicles from the dealership over the past eight weeks.

Henrri Bonilla, 30, of Newark, was charged with one count of second-degree motor vehicle theft, one count of third-degree motor vehicle theft, one count of third-degree motor vehicle theft, one count of third-degree receiving stolen property, and one count of third-degree conspiracy to commit motor vehicle theft.

Bonilla is a former employee of the Summit dealership and, while employed, used his access to key fobs to effectuate the theft of the following vehicles:

Bonilla was arrested following a coordinated investigation by the Summit Police Department’s Detective Bureau in conjunction with the Port Authority Police Department.

Bonilla was processed, served all complaint summonses, and released on his own recognizance pending his court appearance.

The three stolen vehicles have since been returned to the dealership after processing.
