Free Parking, Schedule Changes In Summit Over Holiday Week

SUMMIT, NJ - The Labor Day holiday weekend is bringing some notable changes to the way residents move around and do things in Summit next week.

City offices are closed on Monday, Sept. 1. It is also a parking holiday, meaning no fees are being charged on the street or in municipal lots and garages.

Trash is being collected on a normal schedule all week. Recycling, however, will be operating on an adjusted schedule:

  • No collection on Monday, Sept. 1
  • Monday collection moves to Tuesday, Sept. 2
  • Tuesday collection moves to Wednesday, Sept. 3
  • Wednesday collection moves to Thursday, Sept. 4
  • Thursday collection moves to Friday, Sept. 5
  • Friday collection moves to Saturday, Sept. 6

City Hall will resume under normal operating hours on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Municipal offices will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The construction office will be available Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Students in the area are returning to classes on Sept. 2 for the new year. The Summit Police Department is also continuing to encourage residents to stay alert, using the different precautions around school zones. Read more
