Gas Leak Now Repaired in Summit
There was a small gas leak in one of the city's DPW yards Wednesday morning after a crew struck a gas line while digging into the ground to install new utilities.

There was a gas leak in one of the Summit DPW yards on Wednesday, which was contained on site and did not affect any residents.
Summit Fire Deputy Chief Eric Evers and Battalion Chief Richard Locke said crews were digging a trench in a city yard near the River Road and Chatham Road intersection just before 11 a.m. to run new utilities to another city building when the gas line was struck. Summit Fire Department was called to the scene.
“Within a half hour, PSE&G came on scene and shut the gas off,” Evers told Patch. “It partly affected the maintenance building. It was kept localized on site.”
