Jets’ Robert Saleh, Derek Carr Spotted At Summit Restaurant

Derek's brother David Carr told NFL Total Access that the Jets and Carr "hit it off" over the weekend.

SUMMIT, NJ - Jets head coach Robert Saleh and free agent quarterback Derek Carr were spotted in Summit over the weekend, enjoying lunch at a white-tablecloth restaurant on Maple Street.

According to a Saturday tweet from user @ShikeyTues, the pair grabbed a bite at Fiorino Ristorante, a Tuscan-inspired Summit mainstay for nearly 30 years.

At least one other fan commented below the photo that he ran to Fiorino to catch a glimpse, but the doors were locked.

Jets X Factor reported that Saleh and Carr were dining with two other men, which appeared to be offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and passing game coordinator Todd Downing.

Carr, a former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback, has only met with the New Orleans Saints before, the outlet reported. The Jets talks reportedly began Friday, according to CBS Sports reporter Josina Anderson.

During an interview on NFL Total Access, Carr’s brother, David Carr, an NFL Network analyst, claims the Jets and Carr “hit it off.”

“He went there to get a feel for how they work from the top down,” the analyst said. “We knew he would love Robert Saleh. I’ve known him for a while. He's fantastic and they hit it off and they would love to work together.”

“They had a good chat. They talked about a lot of different things,” Derek’s brother added.

A request for comment from Fiorino Ristorante management was not immediately returned.
