Child Run Over At Union County School Drop Off, Police Say
The mother was driving a Subaru at the school's drop-off area.
UNION TOWNSHIP, NJ - An eight-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after his mother accidentally hit him with her car while in the student drop-off line.
At around 8:15 a.m., the woman was driving her Subaru outside of Battle Hill Elementary School when she ran over the child's foot and injured his ankle. He was taken to Overlook Medical Center in Summit for treatment.
"This has nothing to do with the safety of transportation around our schools in Union Township. I know some parents may see this and be worried, but this was just an unfortunate accident on the first day of school," adds Union Township Police Captain Pietro Digena.
