Nearly 500 Traffic Stops In Summit In October
Summit police released numbers on last month's traffic statistics.
SUMMIT, NJ — The Summit Police Department released data on traffic stops throughout October, and nearly 500 stops were performed.
Of the 495 traffic stops performed, Summit police recorded 145 hours of radar speed enforcement. Throughout October, there were 127 targeted enforcement details and 140 parking enforcement details.
Only one person was arrested last month on charges of Driving While Intoxicated. There were 26 reportable car accidents.

The traffic report did not go into detail about car thefts, but in September, over 12 reports of burglary or theft came in. The majority of the reports were bicycle thefts of both secured and unsecured bikes throughout town. Several reports mentioned cars that were burglarized or an attempt was made.
The incidents are not new, several police departments in Union County towns have encouraged residents to lock their car doors and report suspicious activity.
