Sandy Has Sour Effect on Halloween
Summit Police again cancel trick-or-treating due to an October storm.

For the second year in a row Summit Police are telling residents that an Oct. 31 tradition is cancelled. "Halloween (Trick or Treating) has been postponed," said a police advisory that went out to residents late in the afternoon on Tuesday.
Actually, it's not an outright cancellation of door-to-door trick or treating. Due to safety concerns, police are discouraging foot traffic around Summit at a time when wires are dangling from trees and crews are deep into post-Sandy cleanup.
"We hope to reschedule for this Saturday 11/3," said the message from police. Authorities said residents should expect a confirmation notice later this week.
