Summit School Registration Details For Kindergarten, 1st Grade: What You Need To Know
Students will be able to register in just a few days.
SUMMIT, NJ — Summit Public Schools will begin accepting registrations for first grade and kindergarten students on Dec. 15 for the 2026-2027 school year, the district said.
Children with fifth birthdays that fall on or before Oct. 1, 2026 can register for kindergarten. Kids whose sixth birthdays fall on or before Oct. 1, 2026 will be able to enroll in first grade.
New students must be registered online. Paper applications will not be valid.

Parents with questions regarding school placement can contact the Summit Board of Education office at 908-218-2100 (ext. 3102).
An appointment that is scheduled through the online registration portal is necessary to complete any residency verification. Forms that are not included in the online registration must be given in at the time of the residency verification appointment.
