Attorney Should've Given $100K To Client, Not Himself: Prosecutor

Authorities arrested Alfredo Ramos, 38, of Garfield after he flew back from Columbia last month.

A Bergen County attorney was arrested after he allegedly gave himself $100,000 that was supposed to go to one of his clients.

Alfredo Ramos, 38, of Garfield received the money in his attorney trust account after a piece of property was sold, but, instead of forwarding it to the client, he used the money "for his own purposes," said acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo.

Authorities issued a warrant for Ramos' arrest Nov. 16. On Monday, Ramos was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport Monday after he flew back to the United States from Columbia, Calo said.
