Officials plan to close Route 4 in both directions during two weekends as part of a months-long bridge project, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The work, slated to last from May to September, will repair the Flat Rock Brook Bridge just west of Jones Road in Englewood. A state inspection found the deck slab had significantly deteriorated and was given a "poor" rating, the transportation department said.
"The existing bridge abutments are in good condition with only minor crack repairs required," according to the DOT.

The exact closure dates and times were not immediately released, but officials planned extensive detours. Westbound lanes would be closed one weekend and eastbound lanes over the second weekend.
Detours for local traffic and New York City-bound travelers were set. (Full details on the detours are attached in PDF format).

"Due to the high daily traffic volume on Route 4, the traditional method of deck replacement, cast- in-place, will not be utilized on this project," the DOT said. "Instead, the replacement will be accomplished utilizing rapid construction techniques, specifically, pre-cast deck panels."
