Englewood Man Sexually Assaulted Child Under 13: Bergen County Prosecutor

An Englewood man was charged for sexually assaulting a child under 13 in Dumont, prosecutors said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — An Englewood man was charged Friday for sexually assaulting a child under 13, prosecutors said.

Jonathan E. Rodriguez of Englewood was charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, said Bergen County prosecutors.

The Prosecutor's Office said that on Friday, the NJ Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged incident of sexual assault that occurred in the past in Dumont.

An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Dumont Police Department determined that Rodriguez had sexually assaulted the child in that town.

He was charged with second-degree sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, said prosecutors.

He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
