Township Manager William Broughton will host a public meeting to answer questions and share information about the new public safety director position approved by the Township Council last week.
, the police and fire departments would be merged under a new department of public safety. A deputy chief would be placed in charge of the daily operations at new divisions of police and fire. The public safety director would oversee administrative and policy aspects of the two divisions.
The plan would save the township more than $260,000 per year in salary and health benefits by eliminating the chiefs jobs, according to a presentation given by Broughton.
