UPDATE: Man in Intensive Care After Truck Rolls Over Him in Teaneck

Landscaper expected to survive, authorities say.

A landscaping company employee from Hackensack who was seriously injured Monday afternoon when a truck rolled over him was in the intensive care unit, but expected to survive, authorities said Tuesday.

The man went under the company’s parked truck on Johnson Avenue, near Teaneck Road, after it would not shift into drive, according to police. He was trying to fix the truck when it rolled over him around 2:30 p.m.

A co-worker jumped in the truck to apply the break, but the man sustained serious injuries, authorities said. The injured man was bleeding and having trouble breathing.

He was listed in stable condition Monday night at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Teaneck Detective Lt. Andrew McGurr said the county prosecutor’s fatal accident unit responded to assist in diagramming the scene, but the incident appeared accidental.
