Prosecutor: Bergen Man Had Online Sexual Contact With A Minor

The 28-year-old Hackensack man faces two charges.

HACKENSACK, NJ — One Bergen County man was arrested Friday, April 24, on suspicion of having an online relationship with a minor younger than 16-years-old.

In a release, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said an investigation into the man's actions started Thursday, April 23, when Englewood Police received information that he was having sexually explicit online conversations with a juvenile.

The man, 24-year-old Juan Arnoldo Tomas Juarez, was arrested and charged with Endangering The Welfare Of A Child and Criminal Sexual Contact, 3rd and 4th degree crimes respectively.

Juarez was taken to the Bergen County Jail pending an appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.

In the statement, Musella said the charges are accusations and Juarez is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation between the Englewood Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
