Resident Receives Volunteer of the Year Award From Opera Association

Eva Piccioni of Teaneck received the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera’s Volunteer of the Year Award at the nonprofit, professional opera company’s grand production of Il Trovatore at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood on April 22, 2012. Lucine Amara, Artistic Director, presented the award.

Piccioni, who has been involved with Verismo Opera for five years, was recognized for her contributions to the organization’s stage management.  She has participated in the company’s productions of Il Trovatore, Tosca, Rigoletto, Un Ballo in Maschera, and last year’s triumphant production of Aida.

The company is seeking volunteers to contribute in different way for its next grand production, Madama Butterfly, at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood on October 7, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. People interested in learning more about grand opera and getting involved behind the scenes are also needed for special events, opera concerts, and other activities.

Volunteers are needed to help with prop assistance, costuming, marketing, fundraising, and set building.  General administrative assistance is needed with mailings, photocopying, data entry, filing, proofreading, graphic design, taking photos, and setting up for meetings and special events. Outgoing people are needed to greet visitors at performances, distribute flyers/posters, seek in-kind donations, and promote tickets for productions and special events.
