TOMS RIVER, NJ — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Terrence Turnbach, who nominated a group of people who have been helping with the joint efforts by Toms River and Fulfill to feed those in the community who need help.

Hero's job: Volunteer
Relationship to nominee: I have witnessed this group of individuals distribute food to residents in need for the past 21 weeks during the course of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Reason for recognition: For the past 21 weeks, this group of volunteers has gathered every Friday to distribute food to those in need or those struggling with food insecurity as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
One thing to know: This group of volunteers has demonstrated compassion and courage and through their actions has demonstrated what community is really all about. Sacrificing time to make sure others that are in need do not go without is as honorable as it gets.
