Bicyclist Hit By 2 Vehicles In Fatal Hooper Avenue Crash In Toms River

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Toms River man died Friday night when he was hit by two vehicles while riding his bicycle across Hooper Avenue, police said Tuesday.

Victor Nolasco, 56, was hit shortly before 9:30 p.m. Friday as he was biking across Hooper Avenue at Caudina Avenue, Toms River Lt. Ron Sermarini said.

Nolasco was crossing Hooper from east to west when he was hit by a Dodge Durango driven by Alexander Colbert-Fernandez, 34, also of Toms River, who was driving north on Hooper, Sermarini said.

Nolasco was thrown from his bicycle and landed in the right lane of Hooper Avenue northbound, where he was hit by a Chevy Cruze driven by Nicole Murphy, 28, of Manahawkin, Sermarini said.

Nolasco was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River where he succumbed to his injuries, he said.

There were no citations issued as a result of the crash investigation, Sermarini said.

The crash was investigated by Toms River Officer William Resetar of the Traffic Safety Unit assisted by the Ocean County Sheriff's Department CSI Unit.
