Child, 3, Dies After Being Pulled From Pool In Toms River: Police
Police said the child was pulled from a backyard swimming pool.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — A 3-year-old child died Wednesday evening after being pulled from a backyard swimming pool in Toms River, police confirmed.
CPR was performed on the child en route to Community Medical Center, but the child did not survive, police said.
Multiple radio scanner sites reported Toms River police shut down intersections along Route 37 between Fischer Boulevard and the hospital while the child was being transported.

Fire Chief Travis Veth was on the scene in 30 seconds of the 911 call, Toms River Police Chief Mitch Little said, and RWJ Barnabas Health paramedics also responded.
Brick Township EMS transported the child to the hospital, Little confirmed, because RWJ Barnabas paramedics arrived by SUV and were not equipped to transport while continuing to do CPR.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office is leading the investigation, police said.
