Electrical Fire Damages Roof Of Rehab Hospital In Toms River
Firefighters were able to contain the fire on the roof of Encompass Health Rehabilitation, authorities said.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — An electrical fire that started from a short-circuit was contained to the roof of a rehabilitation hospital on Friday, Toms River fire officials said.
There were no injuries reported and no patients were affected by the fire, said Matthew Janora, chief inspector with the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention..
The fire was reported shortly before 4 p.m. Friday by a fire alarm at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital on Hospital Drive, Janora said. Not long after the alarm notification, 911 callers reported seeing fire on the roof, Janora said.

Toms River Fire Companies 1 and 2 responded and found smoke and flames emanating from the roof above the office area, Janora said.
Crews utilized a water fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire and the damage was contained to the exterior of the building, he said.

Inspector Christian DeEsposito conducted the fire investigation and scene examination. The fire was ruled accidental, caused by a failure of energized electrical equipment located on the roof of the building, Janora said.
