Hooper Avenue To Be Closed In Downtown Toms River

The closure is for work on the pedestrian bridge that crosses the road, authorities said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Hooper Avenue will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday for construction on the pedestrian bridge over the road, Ocean County officials announced.

Hooper Avenue will be closed from Washington Street to Madison Avenue until 6 p.m. and there will be detours in place to Hadley Avenue.

Pedestrians are urged to avoid the work zone as well, officials said.

Drivers on Washington Street who want to go north toward Route 37 should turn on Hadley Avenue and follow it to Madison Avenue, where they can pick up Hooper Avenue. Heading south on Hooper Avenue, drivers can turn on Madison Avenue, then onto Hadley Avenue to get to Washington Street.
