In 2013, investigators determined Wolny had been distributing child pornography through a file sharing application on his computer. In September 2013, officials served a search warrant at Wolny's home and seized computer equipment that contained evidence of child pornography distribution, according to officials.

Detective located multiple videos from the YMCA in Toms River where Wolny had hidden a camera in a bathroom and videotaped multiple people changing and showering. The investigation also revealed that he had videotaped students in Maryland during a class trip when he was a youth band leader and IT director for the Howell Township school system.
