Man, 75, 'Critical' After Hit-And-Run In Seaside Heights; Woman Charged

The man was found unconscious and seriously injured on the Boulevard in Seaside Heights, authorities said.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ — A Seaside Park woman has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run Monday night in Seaside Heights that left a 75-year-old man in critical condition, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced.

Genell A. Mcinaw, 50, has been charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury to another person, First Assistant Prosecutor Michael T. Nolan Jr. said.

Seaside Heights police were called to the area of Dupont Avenue and the Boulevard about 9:30 p.m. for a report of a man lying in the road and found the man unconscious with serious injuries, the prosecutor's office said.

The man was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune and is listed in critical condition, authorities said. They have not released his name or hometown.

Investigators learned a dark-colored sedan was traveling south on the Boulevard when it hit the man, then left the area, and the prosecutor's office said they were able to determine Mcinaw was driving the vehicle at the time.

She was arrested at her home by detectives from the prosecutor's office and taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for a court-authorized blood draw, the prosecutor's office said.

Mcinaw is being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

The Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad, Seaside Heights Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit collaborated on the investigation.
