Man 'Critical' After Hit-And-Run In Toms River

Authorities are searching for a blue Volkswagen sedan that they believe hit the man.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Authorities are searching for the driver of a vehicle in a hit-and-run on Massachusetts Avenue Saturday night that left a man in critical condition.

The man was hit on Massachusetts Avenue near Mobile Lane shortly before 9:40 p.m. Saturday, according to a joint release from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Toms River Police Department. The vehicle was northbound on Massachusetts Avenue at the time and left the area, authorities said.

The man was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where he is listed in critical but stable condition. Authorities did not release any identifying information about the man.

The vehicle is believed to be a blue Volkswagen sedan and will likely have damage on the front driver's side of the car, including a broken rear-view mirror on the driver's door, authorities said.
