Mother 'Made Me The Wife And Mom I Am Today,' Toms River Woman Says

TOMS RIVER, NJ— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your mom extra special?

She is the definition of selfless. My mom retired the day my daughter, her first grandchild, was born to care for her when I returned to my classroom. She continued this devotion to her next two grandsons when they were born also. My mom had her grandkids involved in every story hour at all the local libraries in the county. From swim lessons to scout meetings, she helped me make sure my kids were at all their activivities at every age. There is no event in her children's or grandchildren's lives that she ever misses. She goes above and beyond!

Why do you feel your mom deserves the spotlight?

She is an everyday hero. She was a paraprofessional for special education students for 25 years, then jumped right into grandparenthood with no rest in between. My mom's dedication to her family has made me the wife and mom I am today.
